The 2-phase cleaning tablet doesn’t just clean the machine, it also seals it to delay the accumulation of coffee fat residue.
Most Jura machines will alert you to do the cleaning and after 180 brewing cycles or 80 on/off cycles. Only difference is on some machines the cleaning process is started from the maintenance menu. So what the cleaning tablet does is remove any coffee residue build-up in the brew group and other internal plumbing.
Also a good idea to do a tablet cleaning if the machine will be idle for more than a week. Oils in coffee residues eventually go rancid and effect coffee flavor. Let it go to long, and it can block up fine passages in the brew unit and effect machine performance.
So, very easy to use. With the machine displaying “ready clean” just press the rinse button. The display will show “Empty Tray”. So take out the drip tray and coffee grounds container empty those and reinsert them.
Place a pitcher or something to catch water under the spout and press the rinse button again. The machine will do a pre-rinse.
After that, the display changes to “Add Tablet”. So break out a tablet and place it in chute of the bypass doser and close the door. The display will tell you to “press rinse”, so do that and water will start to flow out of the spout repeatedly.
The entire process takes about 15 minutes, and you don’t want to interrupt it or the cleaning may be compromised.
When finished the display will read “empty tray” so do that, reinsert and your done. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you back here soon for more on everything coffee.
